What is psychotherapy and why?

Who is a psychotherapist?

An average psychotherapist needs to have advanced qualifications in the mental health profession. Qualifications in this mental health professionals can come from any department of mental health. Such as Psychiatry, Psychology, Psychiatric Patient Nursing.

What happens in psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy sessions take place in the same place and at the same time. The conversations that take place between the therapist and the patient usually take place every week or every fortnight and usually last for 50 to 60 minutes.
.In individual therapy, the patient and the therapist always sit in a chair. Group therapy is usually about three or more clients and involves talking about specific problems. Some again combine therapeutic techniques. Such as individual and marital therapy (where couples meet with one or two therapists). Regardless of the technique, psychotherapy is not magic but the ability to heal through it varies from person to person. .At one point patients develop the idea that they can apply more mastery over their difficult situations, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors than ever before.

Counseling or psychotherapy

There are issues of heated debate over the difference between the two. But the British Psychological Society refers to counseling as a method or system that helps to improve people’s sense of well-being, reduce people’s distractions, resolve their crises, increase their ability to solve problems, and so on create the ability to make your own decisions. Psychotherapy is beneficial for those who are suffering from psychological problems, which have developed over the years.

Cognitive therapy

It teaches the way to break down negative thoughts and harmful beliefs or to learn new behaviors so that the patient can rediscover himself. It creates in you a kind of ability to deal with problems by creating the ability to see some of the misconceptions that have been created in you, which were gained in the first life experience, in different ways, in different ways or in different situations. .It is effective in mild to moderate depression and this therapy must be done by an experienced and trained therapist. For example, in this case, there may be a clinical psychologist or mental health nurse. This cognitive therapy works especially for children and adolescents.

Behavioral therapy

This therapy can be helpful for people with phobia or panic. In this therapy, the thing or situation in which the person is suffering from panic due to fear is gradually displayed in front of the person and the patient is told that he will not be harmed by these or there is nothing to fear. This therapy enables the patient to overcome his anxiety.

Psychoanalysis

In this therapy, the affected person is encouraged to express or share his / her personal experience openly. This is an attempt to discover from the unconscious consciousness of the person, due to which the person has become emotionally and mentally ill.
Psychotherapy or other therapies are given for various mental problems. These problems are 6

  • Bipolar disorder
  • Depressive disorder
  • Personality disorder
  • Self-Harm
  • Anxiety disorder
  • Phobia and panic disorder
  • Schizophrenia and
  • Eating Disorders

Psychiatrists will decide which therapy applies to which patient, psychotherapy, talking therapy or cognitive therapy, individual therapy. And only an experienced academically qualified therapist can give these therapies. .Therefore, it is necessary to know the academic or professional qualifications of the therapist before taking such therapy. Or it may be worse than good.
